Christ Lutheran School

"A Christ-Centered Education"

Fully Accredited by the National Lutheran Schools

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Christ Lutheran Preschool we strive to reach the children and their families with God’s special love as they learn that Jesus loves them and is their very best friend. We work together with parents by offering opportunities and experiences to help each child grow spiritually, physically, academically, emotionally and socially at his or her own pace. Our words, activities and songs are focused on nurturing a life-long relationship with Christ as well as preparing each child for the next level of education and developing a love of learning. Our Christ-centered staff provides a fun-filled, safe environment where each child feels secure and loved. We remind our students continually of God’s special love for each of them as He daily forgives our sins and as we all grow together in our love for Jesus.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Each child is a precious gift; he is a special person created by God, loved by God, and brought to God by the Holy Spirit, through faith in Christ. The preschool child at Christ Lutheran experiences spiritual growth through bible stories, beginning with creation and continuing through the New Testament stories of the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Each week each class attends a short chapel service, specially planned for the preschool age level.

EAGERNESS AND CONFIDENCE

Experiences in preschool are designed to build enthusiasm and eagerness for learning. Curiosity and creativity are encouraged as the child learns the social skills necessary to work both independently and in groups. Activities require students to share materials and show respect for the rights of others, while having fun! Your preschooler will grow in confidence as challenges are mastered while in a secure environment.

CLASS SIZE, DIVISION AND DESCRIPTION

Our preschool classes have a maximum of twelve children per class and are divided according to age. Children placed in our Pre-Kindergarten classes are those that will turn 4 years old by December 2nd, making them eligible for public school Kindergarten the following year. Children that will not turn 4 by that date will be placed in a Nursery Class. Please be aware that those children that attend Christ Lutheran Kindergarten need to be 5 by October 15th of the year they enter Kindergarten.

In Pre-Kindergarten classes our main objective is to prepare each child for Kindergarten, without taking the place of Kindergarten. Colors, shapes and numbers through ten are mastered. The alphabet is presented in many ways, including games, songs, stories, art, and the introduction of correct formation of each letter. Cutting skills are practiced to strengthen the fine motor muscles. Communication skills are practiced during sharing time so that the children can better express themselves to those around them. The children are given the opportunity to do “homework”, which builds not only academic skills and responsibility but self-esteem as well, while fostering excitement for learning.

In our Nursery class the children learn basic “life lessons” such as how to be away from Mom and Dad, sharing (toys as well as the teacher!), taking turns, following simple rules and directions, and communicating with words to their friends and teacher. Shapes, colors and numbers are introduced. Cutting skills are also introduced. The children have plenty of time for socialization and free play as well as more structured activities.

All of our classes enjoy a daily music period. The whole preschool comes together and sings a variety of seasonal and “just plain fun” songs, secular as well as non-secular.

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
